Dena lost 8 pounds in a week with a change in body fat percentage of 2.97%, decreasing from 38.31% to 25.24%.


Dena Sullivan is a 52, retired fitness instructor turned real estate properties caretaker from Grand Island, Nebraska. Since being here at Live in Fitness, she has lost 8 pounds her first week. “I am extremely happy with my progress. I was looking for about 6 or 7 months, thinking if I wanted to focus on meditation, yoga, or fitness. I wanted an intimate setting with a coach or personal training. I wanted that flexibility and mobility back for myself. The attention was key for me while speaking with Jermaine. I wanted a smaller group size and a smaller coach to client ratio. I wanted a setting where the coaches would know my name and I found that here!”

 

Dena noticed a weight change when menopause caused a turn in her life. “It was cruel to my mind and body. It caused me stress. It didn’t matter if I was eating the right foods or doing the right activity. I would binge eat after a long day at work. Overall, the stress and anxiety I was experiencing would result in my binge eating. It was a vicious cycle.”


Thankfully, in a long internet search for a lifestyle change, she made the decision to pick the most grueling, intense program there is. “I expected it would be hard. But also, the best thing for me and my future. I wanted to be held accountable for my own progress and be pushed past what I thought were my limits. Because I knew I had more to give.” While Live in Fitness is a result-based fitness retreat, Eric’s philosophies and approach to fitness is incorporated into the program. Dena explained how this has impacted her life for the best, “I love his philosophies. He breaks everything down very well to understand why his program was designed and how it works and ‘not a fad diet.’ No program that I’ve done before has taught me about the importance of macronutrients and how they all work together to increase our success here!” Dena emphasized, “I need carbs!”


Dena has enjoyed her time here at Live in Fitness. “My favorite class…I love most of all of them. I’ve enjoyed Spencer’s flexibility and mobility class. Swimming has been fantastic. I love all the circuit/bootcamps, especially the ones with the weights. All coaches have great classes and pushes us past our limits, emphasis on the safety part! I appreciate the coach’s modifying movements for certain exercises. I have enjoyed taco Tuesdays, that has been my favorite. Chef Jason has given us lectures and explained macronutrients. Clients and future clients will not be starved! If you are hungry, they make sure to increase one of the macronutrients and to ensure your success here.”


As for future potential clients, Dena shared a piece of wisdom for those considering this program and for those that are already in this retreat, “Don’t second guess yourself. It’s been a life changing program for me and the camaraderie from al the clients have been amazing. All the clients have influenced me without saying a word. This is a team effort. ‘If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.’ So, do something today that your future self will thank you for!”
