Be Inspired to choose your destiny in life.

Congratulations to Sam, our Live In Fitness ‘Client of the Week’ who lost 8 lbs in her first week!!

Sam chose an 8 week program with Live In Fitness, but her success story is more of a LIF Journey and a path which has just began. Sam is currently a full time student who also works with children that have mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. Sam is from Kansas City and grew up with a lot of turmoil and pain in her teenage years, causing her to internalize her emotions. Like many, she found comfort in food by emotional eating, to fill something she could not seem to find in her everyday life. Her mother was tragically murdered when she was 15, leaving her world turned upside down.

Sam had always enjoyed sports, riding, and was undefeated in her national tennis tournaments. At 25 she was ready to turn her life around. Whilst attending a fitness camp she met Judy, who became her mentor, her guidance, a voice of reason and wisdom. They has such an instant bond and connection, Judy later went on to adopt Sam and her life path changed forever.

Sam turned 30 whilst here at the Live In Fitness Program. She missed out on her adolescent life experiences, but she was going to make sure her 30’s were about her and what she could achieve. She was tired of not fitting into the seats at amusement parks. She was ready to make her lifestyle change and came to LIF with Judy and family friend Susan to learn, re-educate, and make it happen. She realized it was easier to be negative than have a positive attitude. The fear of failure or a sense of not being worthy were thoughts of the past.

When asked why did you choose Live In Fitness?
I came to LIF as a safe place to reset. I have been on countless diets but lacked the motivation to follow through, ultimately allowing the temptations of life to win. It’s my time. At Live In Fitness I am given a specific meal plan and guide and am with like minded people all trying to better their lives. I knew the expectations and appreciated the accountability. The coaches and staff are invested in me and the goals I strive to achieve. I have displayed every emotion from sadness to happy and realize it’s OK. I feel a difference in my body even after a short time. I can run a little faster, lift heavier and I weigh less..

When asked, what have you enjoyed the most at Live In Fitness?
I enjoy the classes and am inspired by the Coaches. The classes are challenging and the staff are very knowledgeable and are ready to answer any question I may have. Modifications are given when needed and they know exactly when to push you beyond your potential.

During a lecture, Eric Viskovicz the owner and renowned Life Coach said something that will always resonate with me. “The way you speak to yourself is so, so important. We deserve self validation and respect and we are worth it. ”

I have always been hard on myself, seeking out my flaws and tearing myself down. This would lead to self defeat and depression. The things I would tell myself I would never say to another. After reading Eric’s ‘Power of 4′ LIF Workbook, I have started to work on my emotional triggers and mental state and well being, realizing that I am deserving. I feel empowered and ready.

When asked, what advice would you give others?
Immerse yourself in the program. Attend the classes and always reach out to your coach or team member if your struggling. Taking control and changing your life is hard but your worth it.

My favorite Quote:

“She was unstoppable not because she did not have “Failures” or “Doubts” but because she continued on despite them.”

Sam, you are a courageous, strong, and beautiful young lady who has chosen to live your life to the fullest. By choosing this path of a healthy lifestyle and healthy heart you have opened your world to such opportunity and possibility. We are excited to see what your future holds!

We are all so proud of you!!

Congratulations to Rocio, LIF’s – ‘Client of the Week’. In one week she lost 8.4 lbs making a total of 25 lbs, lost 22 lbs of fat and gained over 4 lbs in lean mass!

Rocio lives in Houston, Texas, where she raises her daughter and balances her career as a marketer, working in the energy industry. Rocio had been athletic most of her life and is ex-military, so knows what it means to make a commitment and be dedicated.  She chose Live In Fitness for that purpose & accountability.  Rocio became a mother to her beautiful daughter 5 years ago and her world changed for the better, but she no longer made herself a priority.  Her weight steadily increased and in the last 2 years she gained over 65 lbs, tipping the scales at an all time high of 265 lbs.  She had tried and failed many fad diets, which left her feeling tired, sad, and often depressed.  She was then diagnosed with sleep apnea and high blood pressure for the first time in her life. Each day became a struggle of feeling hopeless, and feeling less like her former self, drowning in her own life.

The pivotal turning point in Rocio’s life was when one day her daughter found her double over with abdominal pains. Her daughter turned to her crying saying “Mommy, what’s wrong! Are you ok?”

Rocio knew she needed to remove herself from her environment temporarily so she could get the help, structure, and accountability, so made the call to Live In Fitness. She had great support system from her daughter’s father, family, and her boss, whom all supported her on this journey.

When asked, how do you feel about the program and the progress you have made so far?

Amazing!! I’m starting to feel like my old self. I love it!  I knew there would be intense training, and I was looking forward to it, but my biggest surprise were the meals, the education from the lectures, and Live In Fitness’ professional team. We sometimes think we know and have heard it all, when in actuality we miss the most simple, and often important, things in our life. The teachings in Eric’s ‘LIF Plan: Power of 4’ when applied really do start to peel the layers away in your life.  What holds us back most is the fear of failure. To me failure is not trying… The program has really helped me put my life back into perspective and the realization that it is alright to reach out and ask for help.  So far my experience has been amazing. I love everything, and I’m not exaggerating!! If I had a wish I would probably just extend Taco Tuesday to Taco’s everyday!

How has this changed your outlook on Life?

It’s truly given me hope.  I feel my inner personality reigniting. The assertiveness and drive is back and I am no longer tired all the time but now have energy. I know I can follow the program and now have my life back again.

What advice would you give others contemplating attending the program?

Don’t give up, you are here because you are tired of hearing your own excuses. Just follow the program and the results will come.  I am leaving Live In Fitness with a renewed lifestyle, where I can inspire and teach my daughter to have balance and be healthy.  I am leaving with a strong bond and many new life long friends.

Don’t wait to make it worse. Get the help and start living your life! Stop doubting, life is too precious…

Rocio, we are so proud of what you accomplished here for yourself. Not once did you give less than your best, nor were you afraid to get out there, challenge yourself to try something new.  Your unrelenting drive to always want more is a clear statement that you have taken back control of your life. Not only did you work hard on the physical, but also the behavior and emotional side, too.  Always keep that spirit!!

Orange-Rosemary Roasted Chicken

Dietitian’s tip: Rosemary has an appealing piney flavor. It can be used to season a variety of foods, including roasted vegetables and mushrooms, and even ripe melon. Use it with care, however. Too much can be overpowering. Serves 6. Low Sodium.

Ingredients:

  • 3 skinless, bone-in chicken breast halves, each 8 ounces
  • 3 skinless, bone-in chicken legs with thigh pieces, each 8 ounces
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons fresh rosemary or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, minced
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup orange juice

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 450 F. Lightly coat a baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Rub each piece of chicken with garlic. Dab fingers in oil and rub with oil, and sprinkle with rosemary and pepper.
  3. Place the chicken pieces in the baking dish. Pour the orange juice over the chicken.
  4. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Using tongs, turn the chicken and return to the oven until browned, about 10 to 15 minutes longer. Baste the chicken with the orange juice from the pan as needed to prevent it from drying out.
  5. Transfer the chicken to individual serving plates. Spoon orange juice from the pan over the top of the chicken and serve immediately.
