Couple of the Week Swithun & Lorraine!!

Swithun lost 9 lbs in his first week at Live In Fitness! Accompanied by his lovely wife, who never missed a beat with her own stay: classes, schedule, and LIF program.  Together this dynamic duo have been an inspiration to all of us here. From the LIF staff, the coaches, and to the guests themselves.  Swithun and Lorraine, in their 70’s, are from the Bahamas, and are both retired from a career in Sales.

They chose Live In Fitness as their two week destination as the program offers proven science in nutrition and exercise.  This, along with Eric Viskovicz’s life philosophies on self improvement, awareness, and education to help enrich their health, so that they can continue to travel as soul-mates.  Both diabetic, with high HBP, they tried a raw diet several years ago to lower their blood sugar levels, but it was not sustainable for Lorraine.  Knowing that their sugar levels, particularly over the last six months, have steadily increased, they had to make a lifestyle change – and quickly. They called, made the decision, registered, and headed to Live In Fitness right away!

What did you expect when coming to Live In Fitness and what changes have you seen?

We didn’t know for sure quite what to expect, but the food looked good in the pictures. Turns out the food tastes even better than displayed on the website!!  In just two weeks my sugar levels have lowered by 100 points.

What have you enjoyed about the program?

The atmosphere!! it is really a community working together towards a common goal. The Trainers are very patient and push you further than you can imagine. Chef Keith is the King of his Court! Nicola bends over backwards to fill your every need.

How has this changed your outlook on Life?

I am very optimistic now and believe this is a sustainable lifestyle!

What advice would you give others contemplating attending the program?

Come, do it NOW don’t waste a moment!

What advise would you give to others?

Do the best that you can in each class and give the program your all and avoid outside temptations.  Ask yourself, is it really worth it… and was this why you came to the program.

Congratulations Swithun and Lorraine!! You really have laid the foundation that life is what you make it, and you do have a choice.  Don’t let fear, or being uncomfortable, dictate your decision not to try or change. We are so privileged and glad that you chose Live In Fitness as your reset on life, and that we all had the opportunity to learn from your wisdom and experience!  Continue to enjoy, be adventurous, and explore what life has to offer!!

Wesley Came to LIF to Save His Life and Lost 80 Lbs!!

Wesley – Fitness Retreat

Wesley played organized football, basketball and baseball in high school. He has always a larger set guy, weighing 220 lbs in college.  He actually used to have gain weight to play football.  During this time he incurred several injuries and ended up having surgery in both shoulders.  He was now less active, but still ate the same.  His career changed to an office position, which lead to lack of activity. He started using food as coping mechanism and started to gain weight, often eating large meals and desserts before retiring to bed.  Over the years Wesley weight reached an all time high of 570+ lbs

Wesley has struggled with weight loss, which has really started to take a toll in the last 3 years with high blood pressure and is currently on 7 forms of prescription medication. Wesley researched and seeked this program, as he knew he had reached a point where he could not do this by himself. His health was deteriorating and decided to call LIF. Wesley is a Director of Operations at a ministry where friends and loved ones help raise the funds for him to save his life.

Wesley Fitness Retreat

Wesley lost an astounding 19 lbs in one week, for a total 80 lbs to date! Nutrition is a key factor and Wesley has been very satisfied with the customization of the meal plan at LIF. He has enjoyed the meals and has never felt hungry.

The workouts have been modified to accommodate his size and limitations.  His favorite machine has been the hand bike and recently he has been challenging himself on the treadmill. He loves the feel, vibe, and layout of the new facility.  The new Cafe is bright and open with an outdoor seating area for dining. Having hands on interaction with the chefs and coaches daily.

His advice to anyone in this situation would be ‘Don’t Wait‘ and don’t be afraid to get the help you need and deserve!

He would recommend the LIF program, stating that you have to make the most of the opportunity by maximizing your time here.

Rosemary Lost & pounds this Week

Rosemarie Live In Fitness

Live In Fitness – Rosemarie

The last few years Rosemarie lived New York attending boarding school. She lived alone and had a hard time adjusting without her family and the change of culture. Rosemarie started suffering from behavior issues and depression, even started taking medication for it. Rosemarie started gaining weight and her muscle density started to turn into fat due to the side effects of this particular medication. Her mom began to research different weight loss programs to help Rosemarie and found that Live In Fitness would be the best option for her. Before starting the program with Live In Fitness she thought it was going to be more about losing weight and getting skinny. What Rosemarie actually learned is that she doesn’t trust the scale and doesn’t not believe it is a true depiction of health. She also found out that Live In Fitness was more about becoming healthy and finding the right balance in your life rather than just becoming skinny.

Rosemarie loves this program and is a big believer in what the program offers. Rosemarie says she feels great and notices she is getting a lot stronger and also notices she is losing inches rather than just weight. Rosemarie said the first time she met Eric at one of the lectures he told her “I know you are going to do very well in this program”. Those simple words and brief seconds really helped Rosemarie stay motivated and she also didn’t want to let Eric down so that help her stay focused. Rosemarie said the people around her and the results also helps keep her highly motivated. Some advice she shares to help people’s success on this program are “don’t complain, stay positive, change your mindset, simply show up” and her biggest piece of advice is “make sure you get sleep because it’s very important”.

From all the staff here at Live In Fitness, it’s such a pleasure working with you and having you in this program. Your hard work and dedication day in and day out does not go unnoticed. Even on your days when you having knee pains or just not feeling good we see that you continue to push. You show up to every class, meal, and lecture, you are an inspiration to your peers and set a great example through your efforts every day. The staff at Live In want to thank you and we truly love having you in this program.

We also love that Rosemary is focused on the fat, not the scale.

6 Food Tricks That Set Back Your Weight-Loss Goal

6 Food Tricks That Set Back Your Weight-Loss Goal

Have you ever had that great plan where you commit to eating healthy, to the point of having all your meals prepped…even planning your diet before leaving the house for your favorite restaurant? Then bam! You find, without even being conscious of it, you’ve fallen off the healthy-eating and exercise wagon and had to start all over? This happened to me almost daily, so I had to figure out where and when it happened and take steps to ensure that it wouldn’t happen again.
At Live In Fitness, our nutrition counselors teach that restaurants and grocery stores launch instant purchase and promotional strategies all the time, with the goal of getting you to spend more. They could care less about your health — they care about your pocketbook.
Here are some food tricks that they use to set back your best laid diet plans and how you can take advantage of them in your favor.
First Trick – It’s Free!
How many times do you eat food, sample products or take another helping at the meeting all because it is readily available and FREE? It’s not really free. Studies show that you can pack on almost 600 additional calories a day from wasteful eating. Before you eat anything else because it is there, ask yourself, if I had to pay for this right now would I eat it? Answering a resounding “NO!” will help keep your diet plan and your weight-loss goals on track.
Second Trick – We Want To Be Polite!
Have you been to that dinner party, family gathering where you felt compelled to eat what was offered? Or maybe you received a dish from a neighbor that you “couldn’t refuse,” because it would be impolite? Being polite can mean 400 additional calories, only because you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
There’s a solution. Before you attend your next event, let the host know if advance that you watching your calories so there may be a few things that you will skip on the table. If a neighbor or friend gives you something, give it away or throw it away. My grandmother use to always tell me, “It’s better to waste food than to buy medicine.”
Third Trick – Don’t Want To Waste
We have all heard that one of the worst things to do is waste food, because there are so many hungry people in the world, or maybe because it’s a waste of money to waste food. In either case, see Grandma’s advice above. If you don’t heed her advice, you will eat more than 1000 unnecessary calories because you feel guilty about wasting food.
So before you eat your next meal, break it in half and save the rest for another meal. The next time you go out, order smaller portions. If you body is still hungry it will tell you.
Fourth Trick – It’s A Celebration
Most people, myself included, stumble over this one monthly. Why? Because (especially in America) there is a national holiday (a.k.a. excuse) almost every month! People think that a celebration or holiday is a valid excuse to break the rules. They think that one day won’t matter and don’t realize one piece of bread with butter can pack on about 100 calories.
Before you go out or to an event, plan your meal. Know where you are going to splurge, how much and have a plan to burn it off. Also pick one thing. You don’t need to have the appetizer and the dessert. Remind yourself that you will always have another holiday to indulge again.
Fifth Trick – But It’s a Bargain
I know when I was growing up it was drilled into me to go for the bargain. I don’t care if it was extra toilet tissue or the super-sized fries. Who can resist? But an extra 16 ounces of fries can constitute an extra 250 calories. Also if have more food around you, you’re more likely to nibble longer. Before you are tempted to purchase the larger but cheaper option, keep in mind: “Pay Less and Weigh Less.” Make this your motto. If you pick smaller portions as a pattern, you will get the great cost savings over time.
Sixth Trick – I Deserve It
How many times do we make emotional decisions and completely disregard our goals because “we deserve it”? Unfortunately, a lot. Yes, it’s tempting to allow food to be our comfort, support and reward system, but eating emotionally is sure to not be in line with your plan and goals and will always derail your weight-loss success.
So before you are tempted to gorge your next meal, stop and ask yourself some logical questions: Why do I want it? What need is this fulfilling? Is there a better way to reward myself or feel better that falls in line with my plan and goals? You will find an answer. Here are a few replacement ideas: Spend time with friends, go out on a sexy date, rearrange your house, etc. …I’m sure you can think of a lot more, but first you have to take the emotion out of it and make good choices — the reward will be great!
