Client of the Week-  Grace- lost 13 lbs in 2 weeks

Client of the Week-  Grace- lost 13 lbs in 2 weeks

Grace is from North Ridgeville, Ohio.  Retired since 2007, Grace previously worked as a junior high science teacher for 11 years and then was hired by the Internal Revenue Service as an Operations Manager in Nashville, TN.  Grace has struggled with her fluctuating weight since her college days. Over time as the demands of her job increased, requiring longer work hours, often spending months at a time on projects her diet and exercise suffered. Always conscious of her weight, it played  a significant role in how she felt and how she felt that others viewed her. The struggles of balancing work and life was always a challenge. Grace lost her best friend to pancreatic cancer four years ago. The emotions and process of mourning took its toll not only to her health but her body also.

When asked why she chose Live-in-Fitness?

I chose Live in Fitness because it offered exactly what I needed:  structure, a proven track record of success, delicious meals prepared for me, a varied exercise program.  What I didn’t know until I got here was how caring and supportive the coaches and staff are.

I recognized I needed help in attacking my weight problem and after doing quite a bit of research, I found Live in Fitness.  I spoke with Sarah on the phone and she explained the program and I felt I had found a place who understood me and could get me back on track.  I haven’t been disappointed. The LIF website very accurately describes the program. My expectation is that I would lose weight and become healthier.  I’ve lost 13 lbs in two weeks, but more importantly, have gained a good deal of knowledge about living a healthy lifestyle.

It’s hard to say what part of the program has worked for me the most.  Definitely eating my meals and snacks in proper proportion to my body’s specific needs has been very helpful.  Previously, I may have eaten fewer calories and did not lose weight. Learning about macronutrients and how they should be eaten on a regular schedule was eye-opening.  I’ve enjoyed learning how to box, surprisingly, especially because I am 73 years old. The staff is wonderful and committed to helping you reach your goals. Several of them have successfully tackled their own issues with food so they can relate to us and inspire us as well.

When asked, what advice would you give others contemplating attending the program?

I would tell others to seriously consider coming here to Long Beach.  I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you have a positive attitude and are willing to work hard.  This is no walk in the park, but it’s worth it. One of the shirts I wear says, “she persisted. I know I will have disappointments while I am here, maybe losing weight at a slower pace, or not at all.  I know I am strong enough to persist.

For years people referred to us as a fat camp or  fat farms. I think the idea was to farm out the fat., hence fat farm. The other interpretations A fat farm really is a bad term when you think about comparing overweight people to animals. So we do not use this term. But surprisingly many people us this term when finding us on the internet. It was a term used in the 70’s and 80’s for years. So out with fat farms and in with fit camps. Our F – word is fat so we try not to even use that word as we feel it is a very insensitive word.
