Congratulations to Ed, our Fitness Retreat Client of the Week! 🎉Â
When Ed first came to Fitness Retreat, he was carrying more than just extra weight—he was carrying years of pain, frustration, and the quiet heartbreak of feeling like life was slipping away. At 350 pounds, things felt out of reach—hiking, playing baseball, feeling like himself again. But beneath it all, Ed held onto something powerful: a spark of hope. He didn’t come asking for an easy fix—he came willing to fight for his future.Â
At 350 pounds, Ed knew he needed a drastic change, and also knew he couldn’t afford to wait. “I came to Fitness Retreat because I was 350 pounds, and I told the doctor I couldn’t do it slowly. I had to do it quickly. I can’t. I’m not a 1 or 2 pound a week guy. I had to get down before I started doing the 1 or 2 pounds a week, and that’s what brought me to Arizona.”
With that fire in his heart, he stepped into the program ready to push his limits.
Ed’s dream was to hike again. To play baseball again. To live again. “I want to do some hiking while I’m out here. So I want to get in shape and do a lot of athletic stuff… Now that I’m losing some weight, I’m thinking about going back to playing baseball.”

This wasn’t just weight loss journey for Ed, it was a total body overhaul.
After 10 weeks at Fitness Retreat…
Ed lost 51lbs in total.
55.56 lbs of pure body fat—GONE
Gained 4.56lbs of lean, powerful muscle
Body fat percentage down by 12.86%
Ed didn’t just see numbers changing; he felt his life transforming. “The diet that they put you on is conducive to building muscle and burning fat.” With the perfect combination of structured workouts and precision nutrition, Ed saw drastic improvements in endurance, strength, and energy. “Just in the eight weeks I’ve been here, I’ve improved drastically as far as being able to walk long distances, and I’ve been riding my bike a lot. It’s a lot easier than it was.”
With laser focus, Ed pushed himself through grueling workouts and achieved insane calorie burns. “My biggest thing was trying to burn calories while I was here, which I did successfully. I’m burning about 40,000 calories a week while eating just 1,800 calories per day. The weight loss showed every single week.”
Ed knew this journey wasn’t just about shedding weight—it was about building a foundation for life. “I know when I get back home, I’m going to cut my cardio down and just get down to a normal eating habit and a normal exercise habit that doesn’t take up five hours of my day. Hopefully, if I keep eating right, I will lose the weight. I mean, I have no doubt about it, the program is very good at what they do.”

He also understands the power of habits: “Stay as long as you can to get it down. They say it takes 66 days to develop a habit, so by the time I leave here after ten weeks, I’ll have my 66 days in. I’m hoping that I can keep up to where I don’t have to come back. Even though I wouldn’t mind coming back for a visit, I don’t want to come back because I have to.”
This summer, Ed is headed to Philadelphia to visit his daughter, and now he’s ready to take on the world. He’s passionate about pickleball, loves connecting with people, and has a story (or five!) for every occasion.
“The trainers here are top-notch. They care about you. You have to put in the effort—but if you do, this program works.”
Ed, you’re an inspiration—and we’re so proud to be part of your journey. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
