After Halloween Candy Binge
There it is, the morning after… Leftover candy in the bowl by the front door that didn’t get grabbed up by the trick-or-treaters, or in the bag that your kids brought home from their own excursion around the block, and your tummy still hurts from the “snacking” that you already enjoyed last night. This is called, the Halloween Hangover, kind of like a booze it up hangover, but with a stomach ache instead of a headache. And you are feeling very remorseful, but for different reasons as well. What do you do now, and with all that leftover candy laying around? First, go ahead and have some hair of the dog…t hat’s right, eat some…pick out your favorite bar or a couple of pieces that you really like. Then pack up the rest and either give the rest away or throw it away. **Tip below if you have Kids.
Now, be satisfied and think about the positive direction that you are taking and how good you are going to feel and don’t have a negative reaction, even if you only have a candy bar a day for two weeks, will set you back about 2 pounds. It will take you eating at your resting metabolic rate for each week ( with no extra treats or wine for those weeks) and exercising at least one hour extra a day to burn it off. This is why the average american gains 10-15 pounds between Oct 31 – Dec 31st. We are eating extra and aren’t compensating with any additional activity, as most of us don’t have time to do all those extra hours, on top of our existing hours of working out during this busy time of year!
For those of you that wanted to wear something more sexy or fun for Halloween this year, but didn’t, Why didn’t you? Was it that you just weren’t at the weight that make you feel comfortable? A sexy cat suit is a dream for some, the majority of us are watching those days slip through our fingers.
Many people are still going to be dreaming of fitting into a cat suit again next year instead of doing something to change, but at Live In Fitness we are getting people healthy, happy, and looking and feeling great. Love your life and live it to its fullest!
Let your kids pick out some favorites from the candy bag, then set the rest out for the “Candy Witch”.
During the night, the Candy Witch will take the candy and replace it with a Toy! This is a good idea for your kids, and they get something fun that they can keep (and that something isn’t belly fat). Now, get rid of that candy so that you don’t get the belly fat instead!!
Don’t wait until you’re in the same situation next year. Start putting the work in NOW to be prepared for all of the upcoming holidays, and all of the fattening food that comes with those holidays. At Live In Fitness we make sure you have the tools to handle it all!
Live In Fitness – After Halloween Candy Binge
Congratulations to April, our ‘Client of the Week’, for losing 6.8 lbs in one week during her stay at Live In Fitness, and in total dropping 20 lbs in fat while gaining overall lean muscle! Along with her perseverance and determination in finding what works for her, to keep going and never give up on a challenge or a goal, and knowing that her coach, Coach J, always believed that she could.
April lives in Arkansas with her husband and son. She left her work as a nurse case manager to come to Live In Fitness for an extended stay, as her health and longevity was far more important. She came with her mom, who has always been her biggest supporter and #1 Fan.
April has ALWAYS been heavier, with a strong build, not concerned with slenderness. Extreme physical strength has always been a real addiction. In her 30’s, April spent many hours in the gym or on the trail, either getting prepared for an OCR or lifting. Three years ago she was derailed by an accident, which prevented her from doing the physical activities she loved, which left her feeling depressed. She gained almost 100 lbs, and was left with a severe shooting pain in her back and hip.
“My mom had started researching ‘fat’ camps and had several possibilities lined up. She asked me for my opinion, so I went through all the websites, the comments from previous clientele, both positive and negative. In the end I was most impressed by LIF’s aftercare plan, which was created by Eric Viskovicz’s knowledge and experience from helping countless other clients, helping them understand what they need to stay successful. Home-based support is essential to continued progress, and eventual maintenance. The ‘business’ plan is equally essential and those who bypass it are only damaging themselves and honestly, they are wasting the money they spent to come here by not putting the time in on the extreme introspection necessary for long-term maintenance.”
“I feel FABULOUS about my progress! My preference is the water-based activities, where I can lose 5-6 lbs weekly. I’m internally motivated and enjoyed the private workouts offered at Live In Fitness, the one-on-one water aerobics or physio sessions were my favorites. Working with Scott, the ‘Strength & Conditioning Coach’, has effectively brought my body back to life. It was also important to me that I learned and understood the meal plan macro breakdowns and additional information provided throughout the lectures. Learning the meal plan macro breakdowns is absolutely the most important thing I’m taking home with me. The old adage, ‘workouts are easy, controlling that fork is the real challenge’ definitely applies. Keeping the macros in line is essential to everything.”
“I had a special connection with Jan, one of the amazing coaches who is experienced with older clients with chronic injuries and persons with limited mobility due to extreme obesity. I also gained a lot of insight and found the lectures extremely informative. A nutrition lecture from Aline, LIF’s resident nutritionist, made me realize that proper nutrition is ESSENTIAL. Eric Viskovicz, Founder & Owner of this program, is an especially great motivational speaker. He has a gift for simultaneously entertaining and teaching, capturing an audience and making the take notice, listen, and reflect.”
“It’s only as good as what you put into it. Be fully committed to the work. To the sacrifice. To the pain. Because there WILL be pain. Physical pain. Mental pain. Emotional pain. And it is worth EVERY PENNY. If you commit to it, it’s a spiritual awakening. You’ll find a different person staring back at you in the mirror.”
“My life advice quote, which I instilled into my son at a very young age, is from Eleanor Roosevelt – ‘No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.’ Know who you are. Don’t allow others’ opinions of you to color how you see yourself. What works for them won’t necessarily work for you. Above all, unless you have specifically asked for an opinion, the ONLY person whose opinion should matter to you is the opinion of someone you love and/or respect.”
You truly are an inspiration! Practicing and embracing what you preach is such a testament in your strength of character. No regrets & choosing to live your life to the fullest!!
April – Live In Fitness
Today we’re celebrating all of Sarah’s dedication and hard work at Live In Fitness by awarding her Employee of the Month for October! She has truly gone above and beyond, helping guests and fellow employees alike. Her dedication to constant improvement is something to admire. With that focus and her supportive attitude, we are all pushed to be the best we can be!
“Well, I was an overweight high-school teacher. My original goal was to fit into “regular” sizes. I did way more cardio than needed, then didn’t eat enough, crash dieted. This made me lose weight, but I didn’t like how I looked. That’s when I hired a trainer, telling them I wanted muscles. Worked with them for a year, then they sort of took me on as a trainer partner. They encouraged me to take training certification. That’s why I totally understand everything clients are going through, because I’ve been through it myself, but it’s also why I don’t buy their excuses. It makes working here so special, since I understand how hard it is. Especially that initial step of coming here, knowing something needs to be changed. So, I’m happy to do anything we can to help.”
“I teach classes, train clients. I’m the head coach, the team leader, so the other coaches come to me for advice and to handle anything that might come up.” Sarah is also one of the coaches you can be on a team with during your stay at Live In Fitness. You’re able to come to her for advice and she will always do her best to assist you!
“Strive for progress, not perfection.” We all get in our own minds, then give up if we aren’t perfect.
“Stress and adversary creates change. And without change, there can be no growth.”
