We know this sounds like an obvious April Fool’s prank, but it’s not. Well, to be one-hundred percent honest with you, it was going to be.
Our plan was simple: April Fool’s Day is rapidly approaching — we need to find something that, although a little far-fetched, is just believable enough to make people doubt, if even just a little, that it’s a prank.
So we put our crack team of devious prankster creatives on the job, and they came up with something that fit perfectly — a food that ironically made you thinner. We loved it, so we put our research team on it to see if this prank had been done before (we didn’t want to be unoriginal). It hadn’t. But what they found instead was a fruit that allegedly does what we were going to F (fool) with you about: Miracle Fruit.
Miracle fruit isn’t the real name. It’s actual name is…here, we’ll just let you read the wiki paragraph, because we’ll jack up the spelling:
Synsepalum dulcificum, also known as the miracle fruit, is a plant with a berry that when eaten, causes sour foods (such as lemons and limes) subsequently consumed to taste sweet. This effect is due to miraculin, which is used commercially as a sugar substitute. Common names for this species and its berry include miracle fruit, miracle berry, miraculous berry, sweet berry, and in West Africa, where the species originates, agbayun, taami, asaa, and ledidi.
We’ve personally never tried it and we’re no experts, but several chefs, nutritionists, dietitians…even Dr. Oz sing the praises of this seemingly amazing fruit, because it allegedly keeps us from consuming the unhealthy and copious amounts of sugar we normally eat. It is also used to fight diabetes and is regularly given to cancer patients to correct taste disturbances brought on by chemotherapy.
Is this fruit a miracle? Maybe, but what it can’t do, not by itself anyway, is make you thin, healthy and happy for the long-term. To think it could do that would be…well…foolish. Sustained weight loss, health and happiness require safe and effective exercise, constructive behavioral changes, a meal plan that works for you.
That’s what the caring, expert team here at Live in Fitness™ offers to every single one of our clients. And to them it’s a miracle. They show up overweight, unhealthy and (usually) unhappy — they leave thinner, healthy and happy.
We’d love to offer you the same…and maybe some miracle fruit…we have to do some more research first.
