Exercise Business Is Booming When Catering to Over-50 Crowd
The image that many people might have of weight loss retreats in California is of young people with toned bodies trying to trim the last bit of body fat before their next modeling session. This might be the image that we’ve had drilled into our heads thanks to films, TV shows and other forms of popular culture over the years, but the reality is much different. More and more people over the age of 50 are enrolling in weight loss boot camp in California than ever before. In fact, the over-50 crowd makes up the fastest growing segment of the fitness market.
For many of these Boomers, it isn’t about needing to go to a fat camp in California because they are dealing with obesity; instead, they are already in good shape but want to make sure that they stay that way. They don’t want to sacrifice by going on the latest trendy LA weight loss system. Instead, they want to be able to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle while enjoying life as they near retirement.
Exercise professionals understand this and are creating programs that cater to the Boomer generation. For example, many low-impact boot camp programs are being created specifically to help people over 50 who might have issues with joints such as their knees, hips or shoulders. And the highly-successful Curves franchise has built an empire off of offering mini-exercise routines that are a perfect fit for busy Boomers looking to get in a quick workout before a business meeting.
