The Advantages and Disadvantages of Fitness Vacations
If you are looking at losing a large amount of weight but are not interested in surgical options, going on a fitness vacation might be an option you’ve considered. Rather than deal with the stigma of going to an adult fat camp, people feel more comfortable telling people that they are going on a “vacation” that will also help them come back slimmer and with a better overall level of physical fitness.
While this is great on paper, in reality many fitness vacations are not a great solution for obtaining long-term body health and fitness. One of the main reasons is that because of their clientele and high costs, these camps are more interested in pampering their clients than getting them in shape. It’s wonderful to have a full body massage or spend time in a spa, but real weight loss means real work, and many “fitness vacation” destinations don’t include enough hard work and sweat.
In addition, it’s important to do more than just physical activity during boot camp programs. Campers also need to understand why they have struggled with their weight and what they can do to reverse things. This includes counseling sessions and educational classes designed to impart practical advice about diet and maintaining a program for the weeks and months after the campers leave the program.
One of the hallmarks of the Live-in Fitness Enterprises (LIFE) program is that we work on all aspects of your weight loss program, including both the physical and emotional side of things. We are a true beach boot camp, meaning that you can be refreshed by cool ocean breezes while burning off the extra pounds. So find out more about what services LIFE can offer you on your way to getting fit.
